About DYOR.tax

What we do

DYOR.tax is a crypto tax calculation tool that generates filing-ready PDF reports from your exchange transaction history and wallet data. Upload a CSV from Coinbase, Binance, or Kraken, and the system calculates your capital gains, losses, and crypto income for your selected tax year.

How it works

The calculation engine parses your exchange CSV, normalizes every transaction, and applies the correct cost basis method for your country. For US reports, that means you can choose FIFO (oldest lots first), LIFO (newest lots first), or HIFO (highest-cost lots first). Australia, New Zealand, India, and South Africa use FIFO by default. Canada currently outputs FIFO-based transaction P&L with Canadian filing support, but Canadian adjusted cost base treatment should be reviewed before filing. The UK uses HMRC-compliant Section 104 pooling with same-day and bed-and-breakfast rules.

If you also had on-chain activity, you can add wallet addresses for scanning. The system covers 41+ EVM chains, Solana, and Bitcoin. On-chain data is merged with your exchange CSV, with cross-source self-transfer detection to avoid double-counting.

Pricing model

Preview is always free with no sign-up required. Full PDF reports are a one-time payment based on your number of taxable events, starting at $29. No subscriptions, no recurring charges.

What is in the report

Each PDF report includes a capital gains filing table mapped to your country's tax forms, crypto income summary, top assets by P&L, end-of-year holdings with cost basis, and a complete transaction audit trail. Country-specific filing instructions guide you through each form and field.

Data handling

CSV files are processed server-side and not stored permanently. Wallet scanning is read-only and queries only public blockchain data. No private keys or wallet connections are used. Generated PDF reports are stored encrypted with a 12-month retention period. Payments are processed through Stripe.
